The Class of 2006 was the first class to graduate with a minor in Professional Writing, Emphasis in Business Communication. During their coursework, the Class of 2006 prepared the infrastructure needed to ensure a strong future for the Business Communication Emphasis.
Four teams were organized to promote the Business Communication Emphasis. These include:
- Outreach: Designing fliers and brochures to notify students of the brand new Business Communication Emphasis
- Newsletter: Built and designed three newsletters released via email, containing a variety of student-authored articles
- Web Development: The designing, testing, and maintaining of the first BizComm website
- Web Editing: Edited and wrote content for the BizComm website
Students also participated in service learning projects to further develop and refine their writing skills. The participating service learning organizations in 2006 were:
- Sustainability Conference
- Office of the Ombuds
- Engineers Without Borders
- Kids in Nature
