Welcome to the second issue of our Business Communication Professional Writing Minor Newsletter! As the spring quarter comes to an end and we prepare ourselves for graduation, the anxiety and excitement will only continue to swell. In this issue, we have highlighted what the students of the Business Communication Professional Writing Minor have accomplished this year in the classroom and in the “real world.” Take a look at where the Class of 2008 is now because we can only head up from here!

Class of 2008: Getting Involved, Giving Back

Developing “Voluntour” campaigns, participating in Sustainability Programs, and forming Service Learning partnerships with non-profits are just a few of the projects some of the BizComm students have participated in. Drifting away from the notion that writing focuses exclusively on lengthy research papers, the class of 2008 stepped out of the classroom and into the community.


From the Art Museum to the Corporate Conglomeration: Student Internships in this Year’s Minor

What do the Santa Barbara Congress, Catalyst Marketing, and Carl’s Jr. all have in common? Professional Writing BizComm Students, of course! Each student accepted into the minor is required to sustain an internship classified by the capstone course, writing 150.  This year’s students have taken their internships to another level by choosing varied and sometimes highly demanding positions. What are they doing and what do they get out of it?
